Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is available for adults and minors ages 11–17. At Cielo Azul Counseling, individual sessions provide a safe, one-on-one space to address anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Therapy follows each client’s goals and comfort level.

Adults

Individual therapy is offered to adults (18+) via a secure Telehealth platform. Common issues addressed in therapy include emotional regulation, trauma, life transitions, and grief. Our approach is culturally sensitive, neuroaffirming, and trauma-informed.

A licensed clinician provides treatment using a blend of modalities, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), person-centered therapy, and attachment-informed strategies.

EMDR may be used to help process upsetting memories. Through guided bilateral stimulation (for example, side-to-side eye movements), EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories so healthier beliefs can form. EMDR is evidence-based and often effective for trauma; clinicians tailor treatment plans and may combine EMDR with cognitive work, mindfulness, and skills training.

Fee per session: $140. Limited sliding-scale spots available. We accept Cigna, Aetna, and Carelon Behavioral Health; we’re also happy to help you explore out-of-network benefits.

Minors

Online therapy for teens (ages 11–17) uses evidence-based, youth-friendly approaches delivered via secure video. Two commonly offered approaches are Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and EMDR:

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT): Designed for trauma, loss, or major stress, TF-CBT combines age-appropriate talk therapy, relaxation and coping skills, emotion regulation, and gradual trauma processing. Caregiver involvement is included when helpful. Therapists use interactive digital activities and worksheets to support safe skill practice and exposures.

EMDR: Adapted for telehealth, EMDR can reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories, anxiety, or intrusive thoughts using clinician-guided bilateral stimulation (visual, auditory, or tactile). Telehealth EMDR emphasizes stabilization, safety planning, and caregiver involvement as needed.

Both approaches prioritize safety, informed consent, skill-building, and clear, teen-friendly explanations. An initial assessment helps determine the best approach, and family collaboration is supported to foster healing and resilience.

Please note: We do not provide testimony in family court and cannot work with minors who are involved in custody proceedings. For teens of divorcing parents, a copy of the divorce decree must be provided before the first session.
